Does this make me a Geek?

Okay, so maybe it's the science geek in me or the jewelry slut in me, or possibly that part of me that just loves innovation. But, when I saw today's shop, I knew I had to do a feature.

I mean, you see scrabble tile pendants a-plenty in the handmade market place. Sometimes you run across others that use coin or plastic backing, etc. But, have you ever seen someone using microscope slides??

Exactly. Innovative! Original! Unique! Not to mention beautiful.

Cher (aka HM Designs) runs a shop on Etsy called "Into Creating" where she makes these wonderful microscope slide pendants that encapsulate miniature pieces of art behind glass that are then neatly soldered around the edges for a delicate frame and polished to a high shine.

She doesn't just use her own artwork either but is more than happy to create custom pieces just for her customers! For artists, this is a terrific idea! I mean, what better way to show off your artwork and draw attention to it than by wearing a piece of it showcased in a beautiful and unusual piece of jewelry that people are going to be sure to notice?

This is also perfect for those out there shopping for gifts for others that want to personalize their gift or want a unique piece of jewelry infused with your own personal sense of style. Cher is happy to create custom pendants just for you!

Ah cool! I actually love all the geekster stuff :) Plus if you can recycle/upcycle old items to make new, then I am all for that too!
