Breathtaking Hair Accessories Inspired by Nature

Garden of Whimsy on EtsyI overheard a conversation on Twitter the other day that got me to thinking. The subject was on artisans that sell hair accessories online and whether it was the product or the model that actually sold the product in question.

It brought up how people shop and I encourage you to consider how -you- shop.

Now, I did a lot of thinking on this since then and I've come to the conclusion that, for me, it's about 50/50. Certainly, if someone has a beautiful hair accessory and they photograph it well, it's going to be appealing to me. I love hair accessories and have a lot of hair to work with. But, that same piece on an equally beautiful model or equally beautiful head of hair? That's a kind of appeal I almost can't pass up.

If you think about it, this could put a lot of artisans out there at a disadvantage if they don't have a beautiful, eye-catching model available.

Today's shop is not one of those at a disadvantage, though. Not only are the accessories you'll find in Gardens of Whimsy absolutely breathtaking, but the woman modeling them is equally as stunning!

Garden of Whimsy on EtsyIn fact, breathtaking doesn't even begin to describe this shop. Their hair accessories need to be seen to be believed.

Each and every one is inspired by nature from leaf and flower crowns to scatterings of flowers and butterfly wings tucked within flowing, gracefully coiffed strands. This is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful shops I've ever seen on Etsy.

The artist behind all this whimsical beauty is April (a fellow Jane Austin fan) from Florida, who has a dream to one day become a costume designer for film and theatre. And, I have to say that with the quality of work I see in her shop, I have no doubt she'll reach her goal!

Reflections on the Past as We move Forward!

Born on October 25th 2009, The Meandering Musings of a Consummate Shopper has now been going strong for 8 months and counting! I've met some absolutely wonderful people as well as terrific artisans on this journey over the past eight months and I'd like to take today to reference you to some of my favorite posts from the past.

When featuring so many wonderful artists and artisans, it can sometimes become easy for the personal side of things to get lost in the shuffle between featuring so much beautiful creativity.

If you'd like to know more about the people behind the posts on this blog, here are a few posts that can introduce you to glimpses into bits and pieces of my life as well as the life of my occasional guest blogger, Leal.

Spring has arrived! - Waxing poetic on my favorite time of year.

Captured and Enslaved Dolls in Glass Bubbles

I have a habit of falling for a very unique combination of creepy and cute that you really don't find all that often.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/vonchrupekToday I'd like to introduce you to a shop that fits in this category beautifully and that caught my attention at first glance

AmoMirella by Mirella von Chrupek is a shop filled with this wonderful combination of creepy and beautiful from the tag line of her shop all the way to the pieces she sells there.

Now, I have to tell you first of all, I think dolls are creepy to begin with. Not all dolls. Specifically, I find porcelain dolls that blink are just bone chilling in the creepy department. So when I found this shop? It immediately set off my creepy radar. Yet, at the same time? The work is absolutely exquisite, adorable and just downright... well, cute!

Mirella von Chrupek's pendants, brooches and other beautiful pieces are just breathtaking in their whimsical, melancholic beauty and I think you'll agree when you take a look in her shop.

This shop's stock fluctuates quite often too! Some days I've gone in and there's been only one or two lonely dolls lingering within her shop and yet other days there's pages to browse through! So be sure to look back regularly to see new artwork and creations Mirella has to share.

Immortalizing Yourself for Future Generations

Oh my god, you will not believe how glad I am to be back! Not just that, but how excited I am to feature today's shop!

Today's shop is a BESTeam
(Boosting Etsy Shops Team) shop, but that isn't even close to why I'm excited. I'm excited because I've been waiting to feature this shop for what feels like forever!

I've wanted to feature this shop since
Conduit Press on Etsythe first time I saw them, but I held back and waited because they're a member of the team so I knew they'd be assigned to me to feature at some point but OH was it ever a long wait!

Conduit Press on Etsy is the shop I'm talking about today. It's a shop filled with some of the most beautiful leather journals!

I'm a big fan of journal writing. I've been writing in journals off and on throughout my entire life. I have journals for daily living. Journals for rants. Journals for poetry, for ideas, for inspirational thoughts. I have a dream journal and a short story journal and even a journal filled with lists!

I love them.

I love opening up a book filled with blank pages, like an entire secret world of possibilities. And I love the idea that some day, when I've passed on, pieces of me will be scattered in these books for my loved ones to thumb through, read and enjoy.

Conduit Press on EtsyIt's a magical thing to have a physical, tactile piece of history you can pass on, especially when it's something as personal as a journal filled with your own words, thoughts, ideas and dreams.

Conduit Press has plenty of different styles of journals and notebooks to choose from too, and they're all beautifully made with a wonderful sense of purpose and style.

Each and every one of Conduit Press' books are handmade with love and care toward both its new owner and the environment, too. And each one is a one-of-a-kind creation. You know you'll not find another one like it when you purchase from this wonderful shop... not even another one like it within the store you bought it from!
