I'm a New Fan of... Mushrooms!

Yes, yes. I'm having one of those "I Want One!!!" moments. OmG am I ever.

Like knitters, I feature lampwork artists pretty regular on here, I just can't help it. I'm a fan.

That said, although all lampwork art is
unique, sometimes you come across something that goes beyond unique into a whole 'nother level. And that's the case here.

I never would have thought of this myself. Mushrooms made in glass? But the moment I saw it, I fell in love with it. Little mushrooms captured in clear glass pendant drops. I love it. LOVE it.

Nomad Crafts Etc is ran by a family of six. Mom (Janelle), Dad (Jason), Daughter (Nevaeh), Daughter (Brittney) and two Ratters - PizzaMan and Remmy. They carry not just lampwork pendants, but also beads, sculptures, toy tops, vessels, vases and more; all lampwork all the time!

Time, Patience and Porcupines

I have a confession to make. Every year during the holidays, I spend at least a day or two trying to create a bow. You know, not the "bunny ears an thru the hole" bow that you tie your shoe laces with, I've gotten that one down pat. But a gift bow. Pretty, beautiful bows you put on presents with big fat loops.

And every year I'm defeated, no matter how
many tutorials I read or watch, or how many books I pick up at the library.

What does this mean? It means that this just isn't one of my talents. I'm not going to give up, but well, I've come to the conclusion that I just might never succeed.

You know who I bet makes absolutely -gorgeous- bows, though? The artist behind Kiss a Design on Etsy! I just take a look at the picture in this post if you don't believe me. These beautiful Star Urchin ornaments are made of paper and she has them in a wonderful variety of colors.

The Star Urchins are her modern adaptation of a traditional Polish porcupine ornament, and each one is completely by hand and has 80 hand-formed points. Her family has been making them for over half a century and, as you can see, many years of practice now produces a very neat and aesthetically appealing ornament that's both delicate and celestial.

Can you just imagine the amount of patience and time that it takes to make one?

Artwork You Can't Pull Your Gaze Away From

I had one of those "Ohhh WOW" moments when I stumbled across this shop the other day, and an overpowering need to share what I'd found. And so, I'm very happy to share this artist with you here today!

EarthArt is a shop on Etsy that is filled with contemporary pieces of art from painting to sculpture and variety of mixed media original.

Laura Sue is the artist behind these beautiful Contemporary Earth Art creations, and a very talented artist she is, too! She's a full time professional artist that has recently embraced offering her original art pieces independently on Etsy and has been rewarded with a wonderful following of admirers and collectors.

Many of the compounds that Laura Sue uses to create her artwork are her own, and she spends as much time with a saw and chisel as she does with her paintbrushes and blends of paint. This dedication is evident in her art, even through the online medium.

A Breath of the Past in the Present

Suns and moons are a theme that's a personal favorite of mine, so it's no wonder when I came across this necklace that I instantly fell in love with it.

The necklace is made by DelicateLinks, a crafter on Etsy that's entire variety of beautiful pieces is inspired by a favorite necklace that her grandmother used to wear. Her work is based on how that necklace was made... with dangles and fancy, delicate chains.

Her shop is full of unique, beautiful pieces reminiscent of an era gone by. An era of beautiful jewelry and quality craftsmanship. If you like jewelry styles of the past, particularly of the turn of the century era up into the 1920's, this is a shop you're sure to enjoy browsing through.

Poetic Mindscape from the Depths of the Psyche

Pendants, paintings and prints are what's offered by today's feature, and in particular, I was caught by the beautiful eclectic beauty in this artist's oil paintings.

The painting showing in this post was, in particular, what caught my eye and I'm so glad to have clicked through to look at the rest of the shop!

Wonderful pendants and poetic mindscapes in oil and color abound in this shop.

The artist is a Canadian painter, photographer and mixed media artist who graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Design in Vancouver, BC. She finds inspiration for her work in a variety of venues, including all kinds of imagery, phrases, movies, everyday life, literature and other artist's works.

For a dose of the eclectic and colorful, check out artgirlx's shop and take a browse through a gallery of one-of-a-kind color and inspiration.

Earthy Colors and Soft Textures ~ Afra

I have to admit... I had a really hard time picking which picture to show for this shop. In fact, I for this shop in particular, I really recommend that you go check out the shop itself, because just one pic doesn't do enough justice to what they have to offer over at Afra's.

This isn't the first time I've said how much I admire those with a talent at knitting and crochet, but this is one of the first I've come across where I actually want to own -everything- in their shop. I couldn't find a single piece that I wouldn't be proud to own, wear or give as a gift to a friend or loved one.

Afra is ran by two close friends, Asli and Azra, who are located in Istanbul. Their designs are primarily inspired by different color and texture combinations and also offer custom tailor-made pieces.

Their shop feels very clean and comfortable, filled with colorful items in beautiful, earthy tones and soft textures. It's one of the best shops I've seen on Etsy and, as I stressed above, I definitely recommend checking it out!
